A biweekly ethnic newspaper is looking for a lightning fast, creative designer to lay out its pages using Quark 8 or Indesign CS5.

Min 5 years design experience required. Arabic language knowledge is a definite plus. (it literally takes less than one minute to learn how to lay out Arabic text)

Financial Presentation Specialist

Specialist will produce/update one-, two-, and four-color financial publication materials using various graphics and desktop publishing software

Create, update and test data feed driven, template-based financial publications.
<br>
Perform text and layout edits, update style sheets, QC your own work.
<br>
Intake page layout designs, add automation tags to produce templates
<br>
Develop, enhance, maintain, and support print automation scripts for use by production associates.
<br>
Create specifications for data control programmers who develop print automation feeds.
<br>
The Desktop Publishing Specialist will combine his/her understanding of the potential capabilities of technology with an understanding of desktop publishing systems, data reporting, graphical presentation of materials for each project’s specific needs.
<br>

Primary Responsibilities
<br>
Import financial data into QuarkXpress or InDesign preformatted page layouts; manipulate and reformat text and graphic elements (may require setting up and executing print automation and/or application scripting). Excellent computer skills, demonstrated by expertise in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), Visio, AdobeAcrobat, OCR scanning, and in Client’s proprietary templates and macros. Competence in CorelDraw or Illustrator, PhotoShop a strong plus. Competence in Flash, MapInfo Carefully review work to ensure accuracy of data feeds, typographical consistency, and overall compliance with initial work request.

Participate in project implementation, specifically in the design and development of print automation for each new project.
<br>
<br>
Troubleshoot print automation (tagging and feed problems) for existing publications and make/oversee necessary fixes.
<br>
<br>
Provide technical guidance to Production team members.
<br>
