The Art Institute of California – Hollywood is looking for part-time instructors to teach in the Graphic Design program for our Spring Quarter which starts April 4, 2011. We have need for qualified instructors to instruct classes in GRAPHIC DESIGN RESEARCH FOR MARKETING, INTRODUCTION TO WEB DESIGN WITH DREAMWEAVER, INTRODUCTION TO PHOTOGRAPHY, INTRODUCTION TO FLASH FOR GRAPHIC DESIGN, and DIGITAL ILLUSTRATION WITH ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR.

GRAPHIC DESIGN RESEARCH FOR MARKETING: This course is a review of popular culture as it relates to social, informational, economic, political, and educational current events. A special emphasis will be placed on trends and pop topics as they relate to the design world. Current media, including literature, books, television, movies, telecommunications media, online communications, marketing trends and strategies are reviewed.

INTRODUCTION TO WEB DESIGN WITH DREAMWEAVER: This class is an introduction to web design for graphic design students. This course is instructed using Adobe Dreamweaver. Instructor should be comfortable and able to instruct students in using HTML, java script and CSS.

INTRODUCTION TO PHOTOGRAPHY: Photography is a fundamental component of graphic design. This course will introduce the elements of photography and explore its impact and various applications as a vehicle to convey a visual message. Students will learn the operation of cameras such as 35-millimeter and digital, and the principles of composition, lighting and depth of field. The student will be introduced to the concepts of portraiture, narrative and documentary issues.

INTRODUCTION TO FLASH FOR GRAPHIC DESIGN: Students will further explore through an in depth study of the exercises learned in Message Making using the computer as the tool to create the messages. This course is an introduction to 2D digital animation concepts and techniques. Students will create animation using basic principles of design for time-based media.

DIGITAL ILLUSTRATION WITH ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR: This course helps students communicate and design with the computer as a professional tool. Using different software applications, the student will demonstrate an understanding of electronic illustration. The course will explore vector-based graphic applications that are considered to be industry standard.

Our classroom sizes are small, and our labs include the latest in technology and software. Preparing academic curriculum and developing lesson plans is an important part of this position.

Classes are 4 hours in length and run for 11 weeks. Classes are held in the morning (8-12), afternoon (1-5) and evenings (6-10) Monday through Saturdays.

• Candidates must have a Graduate level degree in graphic designor related disciplines.
<br>
• Candidates must have a strong background in the trends of marketing as it relates to Graphic Design.
<br>
• Previous experience in teaching at a post secondary school environment or training is highly desirable.
<br>
• Must have references and a professional portfolio documenting your work.
<br>
• Local candidates only (living in the greater Los Angeles area)
