Loungefly is looking for an all-around designer to add to our team. We are looking for someone to bring new and interesting ideas that COMPLIMENT our existing line. We are looking for someone who KNOWS what is cool and trendy and has knowledge and interest in juniors fashion.
We are looking for someone who is capable of working with our existing catalog of artwork and product designs – but who is also self motivated to find new bag shapes, develop new products, and design new art that fits in with the Loungefly brand.
The “Private Label” portion of our company is designing and developing new design elements and characters (skulls, gnomes, ice cream, owls, patterns, animals, monsters, you name it) and applying it to products for the Loungefly brand.
Another element of the job is designing licensed goods. We want someone who can take the existing artwork provided by licensers and develop it into something cool and interesting. We rarely use existing style guides and like to take risks and push the limits of our licensed products.
Our main focus is bag design, but we also work on a full range of other accessories including but not limited to jewelry, socks, key covers, apparel, lunch boxes, and knit goods.
Our clients include Hot Topic, Urban Outfitters, Claire’s and many more. Our licenses include Hello Kitty, Disney, Skelanimals, Hostess, Tootsie, and Smurfs.
This position would also include doing product specifications for factories. You would be working with an art director from start to finish on a product. For example, if you designed a bag – you would also be specifying the size, construction, colors, materials, and applications. This portion of the job can be learned, you do not need to be knowledgeable in this area prior to being hired. But you must be comfortable with this aspect, as it is a large portion of the position.
You must be comfortable performing a wide range of work duties. You shouldn’t feel like setting up a print job, cleaning up photos, or working with certain artwork is beneath you. You must be up for any design challenge we throw at you!
Required Skills:
- EXPERT at Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
WE CAN NOT STRESS ENOUGH THAT YOU MUST KNOW ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR – THIS IS THE MAIN PROGRAM WE USE FOR EVERYTHING
- Must have a working knowledge of all of the Adobe Creative Suite
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Strong written communication skills
- Be able to work in a FAST PACED, sometimes HIGH STRESS work environment
- We work mostly on JUNIORS items – you must be comfortable working within this aesthetic.
- Be able to keep up with trends
- Be able to work on your own and complete tasks without being micro managed
- Attention to detail
- Some fashion and product design knowledge
WE ARE NOT LOOKING FOR A FASHION DESIGNER – Some fashion design knowledge would be helpful but we are looking for more of a graphic designer, who is interested in fashion.
