Note: This position is for the entire NW Coast area and not specifically located in Boston where the company is headquartered.
BUSINESS SUMMARY:
We an art marketing organization for high end art dealers, similar in nature to Christie’s or Sotheby’s, but marketing works of art on a fixed price basis as opposed to offering auctions. We connect museums, collectors and dealers with Fine Art, antiques and historical objects. The business currently helps over 70 high-end art and antique dealers to market over $100 million of art and art objects. We have relationships with some of the best art dealers in America and are now starting to expand overseas due to high demand. We have a great need for outstanding candidates for positions as advertised below (as well as others) due to our very rapid growth — doubling in size every few months.
REPRESENTATIVE:
You will be responsible for signing up art galleries and antique dealers to list works of art on the web site. This effort will be through your existing network, but will also include a sales and marketing effort to make dealers and galleries aware of the offering.
ROLE DETAILS:
Consultative Sales and Marketing (70%-80% of time)– This will be the vast majority of the responsibilities. It includes attending art fairs to make contacts and give people awareness of the online venue, as well as making contact with all of the individual dealers in the city. It will also include negotiating contracts with the vendors / dealers who list their items on the website.
Organizing data and information for listings (10%-20% of time) — This includes getting contracts for vendors as well as possibly organizing photography or managing local photographers who can shoot items. It may also include ensuring that the items are properly described and that the data about from the dealers is in the proper format so that it can be uploaded to the website.
Training and Maintenance (5%-10% of time) — This will include training vendors/dealers on how to use the web site and how to update their item descriptions and photos. It may also include ongoing maintenance of the individual vendors in the assigned region including answering questions about the website.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:
1) Must have Sales / Marketing experience in some capacity or another.
You must be a “go getter” and genuinely enjoy meeting new people / enjoy the sales process.
You likely have 2+ years of sales experience, which could be in the form of business development, or sales experience.
2) Must be entrepreneurial in nature and can easily work on your own with little or no supervision– You will be driving the business.
3) Must have a very strong interest in the art business. The ideal candidate lives and breathes art and antiques.
COMPENSATION:
There is a very generous compensation package with essentially unlimited upside. There is also possible equity in the company for strong performers.
